The Gentlemen Watches: Every Character's Watch, and the Patek 1518
The Gentlemen Watches: Every Character's Watch, and the Patek 1518
The Gentlemen is a show where watches carry the story. Guy Ritchie's Netflix series has Eddie Horniman trade a modest military Bremont for his inherited Patek Philippe, gives Uncle Stan a whole room of watches, and builds one episode around a Patek 1518 that may have been on Winston Churchill's wrist. This guide goes character by character, covers the watches that drive the plot, and labels how well each one is documented.
The short answer
Costume designer Loulou Bontemps has said the show used at least £6 million of borrowed watches , some of them fakes, and that the Patek is “bought once and handed down.” Only a few watches are confirmed: Eddie's Patek Philippe Nautilus (reference disputed) and the scripted Patek 1518 plot watch. Most other identifications, including a season 2 Rolex Daytona and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso pair, come from single watch blogs.

How we label the evidence
Confirmed means a costume designer, prop department, the brand or the show itself said so, or multiple reputable outlets agree and cite a source. Reported means a single reputable outlet or database reports it. We leave out other fan speculation, and where sources disagree we say so. All prices are in US dollars and are indicative; check current listings before buying.
Eddie Horniman (Theo James)
Eddie's watches track his transformation. He starts in a modest military Bremont, moves to his family's Patek Philippe once he inherits, and in season 2 wears a wider rotation. Bontemps says the Patek is the kind of watch bought once and passed down through the family.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where you see it | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Patek Philippe Nautilus (gold or rose gold) | 5990 or 5711/1R; sources conflict | Confirmed | Season 1, after he inherits. Outlets say he goes from a modest Bremont to a Patek in a single episode | ~$94,574 fair value for a steel 5990/1A (Loupe); a 5711/1R listed at $185,000 |
| Bremont (military watch; Broadsword per two sources) | Not identified | Reported | Season 1 opening, worn with his army uniform before he inherits | ~$5,795 for a comparable Bremont (ALT1-ZT/51) |
| Panerai Luminor Power Reserve | PAM00126 | Reported | Season 1, episode 8, per Loupe; another outlet lists a Radiomir instead | ~$4,022 fair value; $5,000–$5,950 dealer |
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona | 16520 or 126500LN; sources conflict | Reported | Season 2, per watch blogs. One identifies a vintage 16520, another a new 126500LN | 126500LN: $16,900 retail; ~$34,800–$37,500 secondary |
| Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph | Q389257J per one outlet; conflicting references | Reported | Season 2, paired with Susie's Reverso | $46,200 list; ~$37,500–$39,500 pre-owned |
| Omega Speedmaster Moonshine Gold (green dial) | 310.60.42.50.10.001 | Reported | Season 2, per Boss Hunting and Italian Watch Spotter. One outlet calls it a Speedmaster 300M | $34,800 at launch; ~$31,300–$35,500 listings |
| Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar | 26674ST per two outlets; others say “possibly” | Reported | Season 2. Low confidence | — |
Uncle Stan Johnston (Giancarlo Esposito)
Stan is a new-money billionaire with an old-money passion. Bontemps says he has a whole room dedicated to watches, and she built his look from a photo of a classic Hollywood star shopping for watches. Two sources name Clark Gable, while one summary says Cary Grant.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where you see it | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain (platinum) | Calibre 1304 | Reported | Season 1, per several outlets. Loupe says it was chosen over a Rolex as too obvious | Price on request; a 2025 platinum model was listed at $193,700 in May 2026 |
| Girard-Perregaux x Ferrari chronograph (rose gold, red strap) | Not identified | Reported | Reported by Care of Carl and Something About Rocks | — |
| Patek Philippe 1518 (scripted plot watch) | 1518 | Confirmed | Season 1, episode 2; see “Watches in the story” below | A real 1518 sold for CHF 10,752,000 in 2016 |
Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario)
Susie's watches say control and taste. She is the one Stan tests on the Patek 1518, and she refuses it. In season 2 her watches pair with Eddie's by design.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where you see it | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cartier Tank (yellow gold) | Tank Louis Cartier WGTA0010 per Loupe; unverified | Reported | Season 1. Several outlets agree on a slim gold Tank | ~$11,769 market value (Loupe) |
| Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso (Lady or Duetto) | Not identified | Reported | Season 2, paired with Eddie's. Bontemps says she plays with links between Eddie and Susie | — |
Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone)
Bobby's watch is a working man's tool watch, and one outlet has it switching brands between seasons.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bremont ALT1-ZT/51 (season 1); Panerai (season 2, one outlet) | ALT1-ZT/51 | Reported | Sources disagree between Bremont and Panerai. DMARGE says Bremont in season 1 and Panerai in season 2 | $5,795 for the Bremont |
Freddy Horniman (Daniel Ings)
Freddy wears a vintage family heirloom, which suits the old-money theme.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where you see it | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Omega Constellation (1950s or 1960s) | Not identified | Reported | Described as his father's watch. Sources disagree whether it is gold or steel | ~$6,575 for a comparable vintage piece |
Henry Collins (Max Beesley)
The boxing promoter's gold Rolex is flashy new money.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where you see it | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold Rolex | Daytona, Day-Date or other; unresolved | Reported | Outlets agree on a gold Rolex but not the model | — |

Season 2's guest characters each get a statement watch, all identified by single outlets.

Watches in the story
Two watches drive scenes in season 1, and a third is a running character detail. We found no stolen, pawned or bribe watch in season 2 sources, but that is an absence of sources, not proof.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | In the story | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Patek Philippe 1518 (Churchill provenance) | 1518 | Confirmed | Season 1, episode 2: Stan tests Susie's cover as an antiques dealer by having her value the “insanely expensive” Patek, then tries to give it to her. She refuses, saying watches are for retirement. The on-screen watch is reportedly a stand-in | A real steel 1518 sold for CHF 10.75 million at Phillips Geneva in 2016 |
| Eddie's watch, surrendered at Tibsy's estate | Not identified | Reported | Season 1, episode 7: men at the house refuse to let Eddie and Freddy leave without Eddie's watch and Freddy's trousers. The model is not named | — |
The Patek 1518 is a real, famous reference. The one on screen is a prop, and Watchfinder reports it is never shown in full. The “£9 million” figure that circulates comes from a 2016 auction that was held in Swiss francs.
Borrowed watches, old money and new
Loulou Bontemps told GQ the show features at least £6 million of watches, all loaned. She told AwardsFocus that a watch worth £500,000 could be loaned for about £1,000 a day, with someone watching it. Some watches on the show are fakes, though she has not said which. The framing is old money against new: the watches Eddie inherits are “passed down through the family,” while Stan and Henry's are bought.
Season 2 adds more watches, but nearly all identifications come from single writers, and some assign watches by image filename, so treat the season 2 list as provisional. For a related look at how a show uses watches to signal class, see our guide to Succession.

| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 126500LN | Eddie's season 2 Daytona, if it is the new model | $16,900 retail |
Myths and mix-ups, corrected
- “Michele Clapton designed the costumes.” The costume designer is Loulou Bontemps.
- “Eddie's Nautilus is worth £2 million.” No. A Nautilus of this kind is in the roughly $95,000–$185,000 range.
- “The Patek 1518 sold for £9 million.” A real 1518 sold in 2016 for CHF 9.6 million at the hammer, in Swiss francs. It was a real-world auction, not the prop.
- “The 1518 appears clearly on screen.” Watchfinder reports it is never shown in full, and a stand-in was used.
- “The £6 million is the cost of the watches.” It is the value of watches loaned to the production, some of which are fakes.
- “The 5990 Nautilus is rose gold.” The 5990/1A is steel. A “rose-gold 5990” would be a different reference.
