Best Analog-Digital Watches (2026 Buying Guide)
Best Analog-Digital Watches (2026 Buying Guide)
The best analog digital watches give you real hands for a glance at the time and a small LCD for the stopwatch, alarm, world time and date, all on one dial. We researched 13 current and recently sold models, from a $56 solar Casio to a $5,100 Breitling, and ranked them by budget with prices, sizes, power and one honest limit each.
Our pick for most people is the Casio G-Shock GA-B2100: solar charged, Bluetooth time sync, 200 m water resistance and about $150 to $165. If you want to spend less or need a smaller case, there are good options below $150. If you want Swiss or luxury, the Tissot T-Touch Connect Solar and Breitling Aerospace B70 Orbiter are the realistic choices. Prices checked November 2026.

How we chose these watches
An analog-digital watch, often written ana-digi, has hands and an LCD that are both live at once. A watch with only a small date window or a stopwatch subdial driven by the hands does not count. We judged each pick on five things: legibility (can you read the hands at a glance and the LCD when you need it), function set, durability, battery or solar, and value for the money.
This is a research guide, not a wear test. Casio's own US product pages refused automated reads, so Casio specs come from the independent G-Central spec database and retailer listings. Every pick carries an evidence label in words. Confirmed means a brand page or at least two independent sources agree. Reported means we found one source. Pre-owned, reported means the watch is no longer sold new and the price comes from dealer listings.
We left out Casio Edifice and Pro Trek because we could not confirm a current analog-digital model with a clear US price. We also found no current analog-digital Timex we could verify; for Timex digital classics, see our Timex Ironman history. A new G-Shock GM-S2110NS starry-sky pair was reported on November 3, 2026 at EUR 189 in Europe, with no US price yet, so we have not ranked it.
Analog-digital is not the same as the new G-Shock 2500
Casio's new 2500 series, nicknamed the CasioNaut by fans, is all analog. The GMC-2500 and GAC-2500 use hands, a small seconds hand and a date window, with no LCD, so they are not analog-digital picks. We cover them in our GMC-2500 and GAC-2500 news report. The analog-digital G-Shocks here, the 2100 series and its larger cousins, keep a real LCD beside the hands. For the history of the slim octagon, see our GA-2100 guide, and for the whole brand, the G-Shock history.

How to choose
Start with power. If you hate changing batteries, pick solar: the AQ-S810W, GA-B2100, GM-B2100, Skyhawk, Tissot or Seiko. Battery models like the GA-2100 and GA-700 run about 3 to 5 years, which is fine for most people.
Check the size against your wrist. Thickness matters as much as width. The GMA-S2100 is 11.2 mm thick and the GA-2100 is 11.8 mm, while the GA-700 is 18.4 mm and the GR-B200 is 63 mm tall. Our best everyday watch guide helps if you only own one watch.
Decide which function you will use. Phone sync points to the GA-B2100. Atomic sync and travel point to the Skyhawk. Mission timers and collectibility point to the X-33 or Breitling. Not sure? Try our watch finder quiz or see best watches by budget.
Mind the water rating. 200 m on a G-Shock covers swimming and snorkeling, not a dive computer. The X-33 is only 30 m, so keep it dry.
What about smartwatches and hybrid watches?
Hybrid smartwatches, such as Withings and Garmin models that hide a small display behind analog hands, overlap with ana-digi watches but are a different product: they track health and run on a rechargeable battery that makers quote in weeks, not years. We include them as a comparison only and have not verified current prices. The Tissot T-Touch Connect Solar sits between the two worlds with solar charging and months of autonomy. If you want a watch that runs for years, never needs an app and survives knocks, a classic G-Shock or Citizen is the simpler path.
Care, battery and solar charging
Solar models need light. Keep a Tough Solar or Eco-Drive watch where it sees daylight, since a watch left in a dark drawer can drop into power-save mode; the AQ-S810W has a power-saving function and a five-level battery indicator for this reason. Battery watches need a new cell about every 2 to 5 years: the GA-2100 uses two SR726W cells, the GA-700 a CR2016, the GR-B200 a CR2025 and the X-33 a CR2320. Have a watch shop replace the cell and pressure-test the seals so the 100 m or 200 m rating survives. Rinse salt water off resin straps. On pre-owned watches, check the display for fading and ask about battery leakage.
Vintage analog-digital watches to look for
Analog-digital is older than most people think. Seiko's H558 'Arnie' diver from 1982 is the model that the SNJ033 pays tribute to, and Breitling built an entire line around the idea. Look for a Breitling Aerospace in titanium; the Avantage pictured below is listed at 42 mm, 10.4 mm thick and 100 m on its Commons file page, from the photographer's notes. Pre-owned Breitling Exospace B55 watches are reported at about $3,950 to $5,250 on dealer sites. We cover the full story in our ana-digi watch history.
Buy vintage from a dealer who offers a warranty, because early LCD modules are hard to repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an analog-digital watch?
An analog-digital, or ana-digi, watch combines real hands with an LCD on the same dial, and both can be used at the same time. The hands tell the time at a glance, while the LCD handles the stopwatch, alarms, world time and the date. Casio, Citizen, Breitling and Omega all make them.
What is the best analog digital watch for most people?
For most people we recommend the Casio G-Shock GA-B2100, about $150 to $165. It has Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth time sync, 200 m water resistance and a slim 11.9 mm case. If you need to spend less, the solar AQ-S810W is about $55 to $65, while the GA-2100-1A1 is about $110.
Is the G-Shock GA-2100 analog-digital?
Yes. The GA-2100, nicknamed the CasiOak, has two hands and an LCD window in an octagonal bezel. The GA-2100-1A1 is 48.5 x 45.4 x 11.8 mm and runs on a battery for about 3 years. The GA-B2100 adds solar power and Bluetooth, and the GM-2110D adds a steel bezel and bracelet.
Are the new G-Shock GMC-2500 and GAC-2500 analog-digital?
No. The 2500 series, nicknamed the CasioNaut, is all analog, with a small seconds hand and a date window, and no LCD. It is built on the 1983 DW-5000C shape. If you want an LCD beside the hands, choose a 2100 series model such as the GA-B2100 instead.
Solar or battery: which analog-digital watch is better?
Solar is better if you want no battery changes: the GA-B2100, AQ-S810W, Skyhawk A-T and Tissot T-Touch all charge from light. Battery models are fine too, since the GA-2100 runs about 3 years and the GA-700 about 5. Keep solar watches in daylight so they do not drain into power-save mode.
Can I swim or dive with an analog-digital watch?
Most 200 m G-Shocks are fine for swimming and snorkeling, but they are not substitutes for a dive computer. The AQ-S810W and Tissot T-Touch are 100 m, and the Omega X-33 is only 30 m, so it should stay dry. Always check the rating on the caseback, and have seals tested after a battery change.
Are there luxury analog-digital watches?
Yes. The Breitling Aerospace B70 Orbiter is $5,100 on rubber or $5,300 on titanium at Breitling US, with a 43 mm titanium case. The Omega Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 is discontinued, so buy it pre-owned; reported prices run roughly $2,500 to $5,000 depending on condition and paperwork.
How is an analog-digital watch different from a hybrid smartwatch?
An analog-digital watch uses an ordinary quartz module and runs for years on a battery or solar cell. A hybrid smartwatch hides a display behind analog hands and adds health tracking and app alerts, with battery life measured in weeks. The Tissot T-Touch Connect Solar sits between them, with months of autonomy.
