Your Friends & Neighbors Watches: Worn, Stolen and Given Away
Your Friends & Neighbors Watches: The Ones Coop Wears, Steals and Gives Away
Your Friends & Neighbors is a show about wealth, and Jon Hamm's laid-off hedge-fund manager Coop is unusual among TV protagonists: he steals watches. This guide covers all three roles watches play in the series. The one Coop wears , the two he steals and fences from his wealthy neighbours, and the Daytona he gives to his son in the season 1 finale, with each one labelled by how well it is documented.
The short answer
Apple's own series page names the two stolen watches: a Patek Philippe Nautilus taken from the Millers in episode 1 and a Richard Mille RM 011 Felipe Massa from the Sperlings in episode 2. Coop's own watch is reported to be a Cartier Drive de Cartier , and in the season 1 finale he gives his Rolex Daytona to his son Hunter, reported as reference 116520. We found no season 2 watch identifications yet, and no costume or prop department statement about any worn watch.
Who wears what: quick reference
| Character (actor) | Watches |
|---|---|
| Andrew “Coop” Cooper(Jon Hamm) | Cartier Drive de Cartier (steel); Rolex Cosmograph Daytona (steel) |
| Hunter Cooper(Donovan Colan) | Rolex Cosmograph Daytona (steel), gift from Coop |
| Mel, Sam, Barney, Nick, Elena, Ali and the rest of the cast(Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee and others) | No documented watch |
| Watches in the story | Patek Philippe Nautilus (white gold, blue dial); Richard Mille RM 011 Felipe Massa |
How we label the evidence
Confirmed means a costume designer, prop department, the brand or the show itself said so, or multiple reputable outlets agree and cite a source. Reported means a single reputable outlet or database reports it. We leave out other fan speculation, and where sources disagree we say so. All prices are in US dollars and are indicative; check current listings before buying.
Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Jon Hamm)
Coop's own watches are the opposite of the loot. The Cartier is reported as the one good thing he bought about fifteen years ago, a faded-wealth watch he never upgraded, while the Daytona he treasures becomes an inheritance in the finale.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where you see it | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cartier Drive de Cartier (steel) | WSNM0004 per DMARGE and Loupe | Reported | On his wrist from season 1; no episode is specified. Four sources appear to share one freeze-frame identification | ~$7,000 retail when current; ~$4,000–$5,000 pre-owned (discontinued) |
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona (steel) | 116520 per Professional Watches | Confirmed | Season 1 finale: Coop, considering a guilty plea, signs over his house and gives the Daytona to his son Hunter. Time and TVLine describe the gift; the reference comes from one dealer blog | Wide range, from just under $17,000 pre-owned |
Some retailer posts also claim Coop wears a two-tone Rolex Datejust in the pilot. Only one source says so, and it conflicts with the Cartier identification, so we do not list it.
Hunter Cooper (Donovan Colan)
Hunter receives the Daytona, and the gift tells the story. When Mel spots the watch on her son's wrist, she realises Coop expects the worst, and she confronts him, pushing him to fight the charges rather than take a plea.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where you see it | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona (steel), gift from Coop | 116520 per Professional Watches | Confirmed | Season 1 finale, episode 9. TV Tropes notes it has as much sentimental as monetary value to Coop | See Coop above |
Mel, Sam, Barney, Nick, Elena, Ali and the rest of the cast (Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee and others)
No source we found identifies a watch worn by any other character, including in season 2, whose watch identifications are still unpublished.
The stolen watches
Apple's series page lists the valuables Coop steals, including two watches. He fences the Patek through a pawn-shop owner, Lu, and the story does not say what happens to the Richard Mille.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | In the story | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Patek Philippe Nautilus (white gold, blue dial) | 5811/1G-001 per Loupe | Confirmed | Season 1, episode 1: Coop's first theft, from the Millers while they are on vacation. Dialogue calls it an 18k Nautilus, and he sells it to the pawn-shop owner | Apple lists $70,110 retail and $169,000 resale; other outlets give $150,000–$250,000 |
| Richard Mille RM 011 Felipe Massa | RM 011-FM per Loupe | Confirmed | Season 1, episode 2: taken from the Sperlings, per Apple. The show holds on a full-screen spec card | Apple lists ~$300,000; other outlets give $200,000–$350,000 |
Apple's series page confirms the brands and models of both stolen watches. The exact references come from the watch outlet Loupe, and sources disagree on prices by a wide margin. Whether the watch pawned in episode 2 is the Patek or the Richard Mille is unresolved across sources.
Realism, replicas and what the numbers mean
The show leans on a real-world question: could Coop actually move watches this valuable? Byron James, writing in The National, argues that fencing a high-end watch so easily is unrealistic, because serial numbers circulate and a watch with no box or papers raises suspicion. The total “$500,000 stolen” headline is one outlet's arithmetic, not an Apple figure.
Apple has said that valuables such as Hermes Birkin bags used on the show were real and needed security, which conflicts with unnamed claims online that all the watches are replicas. We found no named source for the replica claim and none that confirms the watches were real. Other stolen items include a Chevalier-Montrachet wine and a Birkin, but not a watch. Real-world watches that echo the ones above, with indicative US prices. These are editorial suggestions, not watches from the show.
| Watch | Why it fits | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|
| Cartier Drive de Cartier (pre-owned) | Coop's reported own watch, discontinued | ~$4,000–$5,000 |
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116520 (pre-owned) | The watch he gives his son | From just under $17,000 |
| Patek Philippe Nautilus | The first watch he steals | Apple lists $70,110 retail for the 5811 |
Myths and mix-ups, corrected
- “Coop steals a Rolex.” No. The two stolen watches are the Patek Philippe and the Richard Mille. The Daytona is his own, and he gives it away.
- “The stolen Nautilus is a 5711/1A.” The reference attached to the show's spec card is the white-gold 5811/1G. One site's 5711 comes from an image filename.
- “Coop steals an Audemars Piguet and a Lange.” These claims come from single sources, appear to be mistaken identifications of the Nautilus, and are not in Apple's list.
- “All the watches are fake.” No named source supports this. The claim circulates without attribution.
