Roger Federer's Watches: The Rolex Datejust, Daytona and More
Roger Federer's Watches: The Rolex Datejust, Daytona and More
Roger Federer has been linked with Rolex since 2006, and most of the watches people associate with him come from photographs taken at Wimbledon, the other majors and, since his retirement in September 2022, at ceremonies and events. This guide separates what is documented from what is repeated. It covers the watches he has been photographed wearing, the Daytona orange-sapphire piece from Wimbledon 2022, the Four Seasons Daytonas auctioned in 2026 for his foundation, and several claims that sources disagree on.
The short answer
No watch below rests on a primary source: we could not open Rolex's own pages, and no statement from Federer about a specific watch was found. The best-documented watches are the Datejust 41 ref. 126303 from the 2017 Wimbledon final, the Daytona ref. 116588SACO from July 2022 and the Air-King 126900 at the 2022 Laver Cup, each identified consistently by several retail and lifestyle outlets from event photographs. The one dated auction event, the Four Seasons sale, benefits his foundation; he was not the owner or wearer of those watches. Federer is a Rolex ambassador, so campaign models and the watches he is photographed wearing are kept apart here, and the notes mark where sources conflict.
Who wears what: quick reference
| Character (actor) | Watches |

How we label the evidence
Confirmed means a costume designer, prop department, the brand or the show itself said so, or multiple reputable outlets agree and cite a source. Reported means a single reputable outlet or database reports it. We leave out other fan speculation, and where sources disagree we say so. All prices are in US dollars and are indicative; check current listings before buying.
Wimbledon and the majors, 2006 to 2019 (Documented from event photographs)
Most identifications here come from trophy ceremonies and press photographs, matched by retailers and lifestyle outlets to specific references. They tend to agree on the family of watch and disagree on exact references and years, so each row carries its own evidence label.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where it's documented | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rolex Datejust 36, black dial (first watch of the partnership) | 116200 | Reported | US Open final, September 2006, per a single timeline from Luxury Bazaar. Another source describes a steel Datejust 36 at the same event, and we did not check the dial colour | Not given in our sources |
| Rolex Day-Date, Everose gold, gem-set hour markers, dark dial | 218235 (Day-Date II) or 228235 | Uncertain | Wimbledon 2012, his 17th major. Luxury Bazaar lists the Day-Date II 218235, Bob's Watches lists the 228235, which launched later, so the period-correct reference is probably the 218235 | Bob's Watches (2022): 228235 Everose, brown dial, about $55,000 to $75,000 pre-owned |
| Rolex GMT-Master II “Batman” | 116710BLNR | Reported | London 2012 Olympics, where he won silver. Crown & Caliber also places it at the 2017 Australian Open, which conflicts with Luxury Bazaar's Olympics-only dating | Bob's Watches: current 126710BLNR retail $10,550, older examples from $17,995; Watchguys about $16,500 (2026) |
| Rolex Datejust 41, steel and yellow gold (Rolesor), slate dial with green Roman numerals | 126303 | Reported | Trophy ceremony after his record eighth Wimbledon title, 2017. Four outlets agree on the reference. The green-numeral slate dial is a fan name for the “Wimbledon” dial: Rolex has not officially named it, according to The Hour Markers | About $16,000 market (Watchguys, July 1, 2026, approximate). WatchTime gives a EUR 14,500 retail figure |
| Rolex Sky-Dweller, steel, blue dial | 326934 | Reported | Miami Open 2017 and the 2018 Australian Open, his 20th major, and reportedly the 2018 US Open. WatchTime lists 336934 for the same watch, which may be a typo or a later reference | Retail $15,200 (Bob's Watches, 2022); market from $25,495 (Bob's) or about $21,000 (Watchguys, 2026) |
| Rolex Day-Date 40, Everose gold, olive green dial | 228235 | Uncertain | Luxury Bazaar dates it to 2018, while Bob's Watches ties it to the 2019 Wimbledon final loss to Djokovic | Bob's Watches (2022): retail $40,350, market from $60,000 |
Federer also appears in lists with other watches in these years, including a white-gold Daytona (ref. 116509) at Wimbledon 2007 and a white-gold Yacht-Master II 116689 at the 2009 French Open. WatchTime and Luxury Bazaar agree on the French Open pairing. The 2009 Wimbledon watch is a conflict: The Hour Markers says a yellow-gold GMT-Master II, Crown & Caliber and Luxury Bazaar say a Datejust II (116334), so we leave it unresolved.
Retirement and since, 2022 to 2025 (Documented from events and social media)
Federer retired on September 23, 2022 after the Laver Cup. The watches photographed since are more varied and, for the later years, rest on fewer sources, often a single timeline. The Land-Dweller is the most recent model tied to him as ambassador.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where it's documented | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rolex Daytona, 18 ct yellow gold, Oysterflex strap, 32 orange baguette-cut sapphires on the bezel | 116588SACO | Reported | Wimbledon, July 2022, at the Centre Court centenary ceremony for past champions; he was not playing. Five outlets agree on the reference. DMARGE describes it as off-catalogue | Bob's Watches (2022) quotes $86,750 “new retail”, which is unverified for an off-catalogue piece. Pre-owned about $300,000 (Bob's; Watchguys, 2026) |
| Rolex Daytona, white gold, meteorite dial | 116519LN (Bob's) or 116509 (Luxury Bazaar) | Reported | His retirement announcement on Instagram, September 2022. The two sources give different references | Retail $34,850; secondary about $100,000 (Bob's Watches, 2022) |
| Rolex Air-King | 126900 | Reported | Laver Cup 2022, Day 1, on the bench, per Gear Patrol (October 1, 2022). Gear Patrol says he wore it after his doubles match with Nadal, not during play | Retail $7,400 (Gear Patrol, 2022) |
| Rolex Oyster Perpetual, green dial | 124300 | Reported | Laver Cup 2022, Day 2, per Gear Patrol. A Day-Date was reported on Day 3, with no reference | Retail $6,150 (Gear Patrol, 2022) |
| Rolex Land-Dweller 40, white Rolesor | 127334 | Uncertain | First seen on him in an Instagram post before Watches & Wonders (Hypebeast, March 31, 2025), then reportedly at the Wimbledon 2025 Royal Box. Federer is named as the model's ambassador, so this is both a documented wear and a brand-linked model | Outlook India (July 11, 2025): about $50,000; this conflicts with about $30,000 market (Watchguys). Price UNCERTAIN |
| Rolex Yacht-Master 42, titanium | 226627 | Reported | Documentary premiere, per WatchTime, which also lists a Perpetual 1908 (ref. 52509) at the Met Gala in May 2023 | WatchTime: EUR 14,400 for the Yacht-Master; EUR 24,700 for the Perpetual 1908 |
Several later items, including a Daytona Blue Sapphire Obsidian 126599TSA, a Texano quartz prototype and a “Double Red” 1665, appear only in a September 2025 Luxury Bazaar timeline, so we do not list them as documented. A July 2026 retailer page claims a Datejust II 116334 at Wimbledon 2026. It is internally inconsistent and a retailer promotion, and we did not use it.
Gifts and auctions (Charity sale and one disputed gift)
No auction of a watch worn by Federer was found. The headline sale, Rolex's Four Seasons Daytonas, was held for his foundation, and the gift story that most often appears in profiles is unsourced.
| Watch | Reference | Evidence | Where it's documented | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Summer”, Everose gold, gem-set | 126595SARO | Confirmed | Four Seasons, a set of four unique Daytonas sold by Phillips in London on September 28, 2026, proceeds to the Roger Federer Foundation and Re:wild. Federer is the foundation's founder and a Rolex testimonee, not the owner or wearer | GBP 10.3M ($13.6M), Rapaport, September 29, 2026 (single source for results; provisional) |
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Autumn”, yellow gold, gem-set | 126598TML | Confirmed | Four Seasons, Phillips London, September 28, 2026 | GBP 10.2M ($13.5M), Rapaport |
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Winter”, platinum, gem-set | 126596SABV | Confirmed | Four Seasons, Phillips London, September 28, 2026 | GBP 10M ($13.2M), Rapaport |
| Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Spring”, white gold, gem-set | 126599SAVL | Confirmed | Four Seasons, Phillips London, September 28, 2026 | GBP 6.8M ($9M), Rapaport. Total for the four: GBP 37.3M ($49.4M) |
| Rolex Daytona 6263 “Big Red”, 1981 | 6263 | Uncertain | Said to be a 30th-birthday gift from his wife in 2011. Watchguys and Crown & Caliber repeat this with no source; Bob's Watches says only that he was spotted wearing a 6263 in 2021. No statement from Federer or Rolex was found | Market $120,000 to $150,000 (Bob's Watches); about $150,000 (Watchguys, 2026) |
The Four Seasons watches are shown here because they are the best-documented event connected to Federer, not because he wore them. The sale results come from one trade report, so treat them as provisional until a second source or Phillips's own record confirms them.
The Rolex partnership and what is not known
How it began. Europa Star reported in June 2006 that Federer signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Rolex. He had previously endorsed Maurice Lacroix from 2004. Europa Star says he paid a break-up fee to Maurice Lacroix two years into a five-year contract, while Luxury Bazaar says Rolex bought out the contract, so who paid is uncertain . WatchTime reports a 10-year, $15M deal renewed at about $8M a year, but these money figures are unsourced and should be read as reported rather than established. See our Rolex brand history.
Worn versus promoted. Rolex retained Federer after he retired, and he is named as ambassador for the Land-Dweller. An ambassador wearing a watch is not the same as a watch built for him. We found no Federer-named Rolex edition or signature model. The “Wimbledon” Datejust dial is a fan name, and the “Federer dial” label for the Datejust II 116334 appears only in one timeline.
On court. Federer wears Rolex off court, but we found no evidence he plays matches with a watch. Gear Patrol notes that Rafael Nadal, by contrast, plays in a Richard Mille. The Laver Cup watches above were worn on the bench or after play.
Evidence limits. We could not open Rolex's website, its newsroom, or articles from Hodinkee and Fratello, and no museum or auction lot page was read for a worn watch. Every identification here comes from retailers and lifestyle outlets reading event photographs, so references and years may be corrected as better sources appear. Christie's sold Federer's tennis equipment and apparel for GBP 3.4M for his foundation, per a search summary we did not verify, and no watches were mentioned. For related guides, see the famous people watches hub and the Daytona and Datejust histories.
Myths and mix-ups, corrected
- “Rolex named the Wimbledon dial.” The Hour Markers says Rolex has never officially named it; fans did.
- “The 2017 watch was a 36 mm two-tone 126233.” A search summary said so, but the fetched pages agree on a 41 mm ref. 126303.
- “His 2009 Wimbledon watch is known.” Sources split between a yellow-gold GMT-Master II and a Datejust II. It is unresolved.
- “The Big Red Daytona was his birthday gift.” Retailers repeat it without sources. Bob's Watches only says he was spotted wearing it in 2021.
- “The orange Daytona retailed for $86,750.” That figure is quoted for an off-catalogue piece and is unverified.
- “Federer wore the Four Seasons Daytonas.” They were made for a charity sale for his foundation. He is its founder, not their owner or wearer.
- “The Rolex deal started in 2001 or 2012.” The consistent date is 2006. Other years appear only in lower-quality summaries we did not use.
- “Sky-Dweller 336934.” Most sources give 326934. WatchTime's 336934 may be a typo or a later reference.
