TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport (2026): Now 42mm With the TH20-00
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport (2026): Smaller, Sharper, and Powered by the TH20-00
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport returns for 2026 having fixed the one thing most people complained about: its size. The racing-oriented Carrera drops from a 44mm × 15.48mm case to 42mm × 14.17mm , borrows design cues from the celebrated "Glassbox" Carrera, and swaps the Heuer 02 for TAG Heuer's newer in-house Calibre TH20-00 with an 80-hour power reserve. It launches in five references.
The Chronograph Sport has always been the Carrera for people who actually want a sports watch — ceramic tachymeter bezel, 100 metres of water resistance, an H-link steel bracelet — as opposed to the dressier, vintage-leaning Glassbox. The 2026 version keeps that brief but tightens the proportions considerably, trimming 2mm of diameter, more than 1mm of height and 1.2mm of lug-to-lug.
A Glassbox Accent on a Sport Chronograph
The new case takes its faceted lugs and pump-style pushers from the Glassbox models that have defined the Carrera since 2023, and the dial adopts the same sunken-subdial tricompax architecture: 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock and running seconds at 6 o'clock, with a colour-matched date window set into the lower register. Where the Glassbox uses faceted hour markers, the Sport replaces them with a large 60-second track and Arabic minute numerals — a deliberate push toward timing legibility.
The rest of the Sport formula carries over: a fixed ceramic tachymeter bezel with an engraved scale, a domed sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating, a screw-down sapphire caseback engraved with TAG Heuer's Victory Wreath, 100m water resistance, and rhodium-plated faceted hands with Super-LumiNova.
Five References
The line-up covers the familiar Carrera palette. The CDB2110.BA0054 is the all-black option — black opaline dial and black ceramic bezel — and the only reference with red-lacquered chronograph hands. The CDB2111 pairs a blue sunray dial with a blue bezel, offered on the steel bracelet ( .BA0054 ) or a brown calfskin strap ( .FC8378 ). The CDB2112.BA0054 goes green on green, and the CDB2113.BA0054 sets a silver sunray "panda"-style dial against a black bezel. All but the black model use grey-lacquered chronograph hands.
From Heuer 02 to TH20-00
The previous 44mm Carrera Sport, introduced in 2020, used the Heuer 02 . The 2026 model moves to the Calibre TH20-00 , part of the newer in-house TH20 family that also powers the Glassbox and the recent Monza Flyback. It is an automatic integrated chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch , beating at 28,800 vph with an 80-hour power reserve , and it is visible through the caseback with Geneva stripes, frosting, circular graining and a TAG Heuer shield-shaped rotor.
Why the Size Change Matters
At 44mm and nearly 15.5mm thick, the outgoing Carrera Sport wore large for a watch named after a road race that TAG Heuer's vintage chronographs made famous at 36–39mm. The new 42mm × 14.17mm case with a 48.6mm lug-to-lug brings it in line with the market's shift toward more compact sports chronographs, and makes the bracelet-equipped Sport a genuine everyday option rather than a statement piece.

Price, Availability and Positioning
The four steel-bracelet references are priced at EUR 6,550 (US$6,850) and are available from September 2026 ; the blue-dial version on brown calfskin comes in at EUR 6,350 (US$6,650) and follows in October in most markets. That places the Sport slightly above comparable Glassbox chronographs, with the ceramic bezel, bracelet and 100m rating accounting for the premium. In a year when TAG Heuer has leaned hard into its motorsport heritage, the downsized Carrera Sport is the most wearable expression of it.
